PCN was an exhibitor at the 19th Annual Pennsylvania Intergovernmental Technology Conference (ITC) in Harrisburg, PA, on April 20-21. The ITC is one of the largest conferences of its kind, bringing together technology leaders and professionals from 22 states and the District of Columbia. This year’s conference had sessions on cyber-security, project management, networking, architecture, cloud, mobility, big data, innovation, and more. The ITC is a once-a-year opportunity for IT Professionals at all levels to update their skills, be exposed to new ideas, and stay current on industry trends.

Katrin Hillner, Shaun Antram, Ron Lynch, and Jon Worman supported PCN’s exhibition and participation. Katrin also moderated a panel on Network Technologies featuring industry experts from Riverbed (industry-leading provider of application performance and wan optimization infrastructure), CDW-G (government-focused provider of technology solutions) and Presidio (provider of managed services & network solutions technology). The two-day conference provided great networking and relationship building with PCN strategic partners including Verizon, Unisys, IBM, and Riverbed as well as key Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Agency stakeholders.

PCN is engaged in a Q215 initiative to build our digital presence and give back to the community. We have created a social media campaign, #HelpPCNSupportTechGirlzQ215, that will be taking place between 4/1/2015 and 6/30/2015. This campaign will fund up to 100 “Girl Hours” of Technology Programming in recognition of new Twitter and LinkedIn followers on PCN’s social media accounts.

How it works—PCN will be donating $1.00 and matching $1.00 in honor of our new followers. We aspire to strengthen our online community and provide the ultimate experience for young girls looking to be involved in the TechGirlz organization.

TechGirlz is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls to be future technology leaders and to reducing — and, we hope, ultimately eliminating — the gender gap in technology occupations.

In recognition of International Women’s Day, PCN employees wore purple to show support to the wonderful Women’s Day organization.  This year, International Women’s Day was celebrated on Sunday, March 8^th, but that did not stop the PCN team from Philadelphia Headquarters, remote sites, and client sites in Wilmington, DE and Washington, DC  to come together on Monday, March 9^th, to observe a day that celebrates women’s achievements and a call for greater equality—which resonates quite well with this year’s theme of “Make it Happen.”

PCN attended The City of Philadelphia’s 2015 Innovation Summit on Wednesday, February 18^th at the Philadelphia Convention Center. The summit, also referred to as “Philly Innovates”, was hosted by Mayor Michael Nutter in partnership with Salesforce and primarily discussed and uncovered how the City of Philadelphia will use technology in the future to enhance customer service and citizen engagement.

Katrin Hillner, Devon Jones, and Sam Levy represented PCN at this event. In the presentation, the city government’s rolled out a “one City, one customer” vision. Several speakers discussed Philadelphia’s recently updated 311 system, which “delivers services across social media, mobile devices, on the web and via phone call or in-person visits to the service center.” Speakers included: Rich Negrin, City of Philadelphia Managing Director, Rosetta Lue, City of Philadelphia Chief Customer Service Officer, Adel Ebeid, City of Philadelphia Chief Innovation Officer, Vivek Kundra, Executive Vice President of Salesforce Industries, and Charles Ramsey, Commissioner of the Philadelphia Police Department.
